I started playing tennis at 13 years of age in Pittsburgh, PA. My passion for tennis led me to playing four years of tennis in high school, where my team competed for the state championship on multiple occasions. At Allegheny College, I continued playing Division III tennis for four years and graduated with a degree in Environmental Science. In 2010, I received my certification as a Teaching Professional and began to instruct younger players of all levels at a local summer camp.
After my collegiate career, I continued my passion for tennis by playing in leagues and weekend tournaments. After several years of teaching under the MTM Natural Teaching Method, I continue to enjoy sharing my passion for tennis and am astounded by the simplistic approach and the efficiency of the method as it improves tennis and athletic ability. I look forward to sharing this wonderful method with all my students, and look forward to seeing you on the court!
I started playing tennis at a young age and discovered the joy of tennis from the start. Growing up in East Setauket, and then graduating from Stony Brook University with a Bachelors in Business Management allowed me to build a wonderful relationship with the Made to Move tennis club. I have been a teaching professional at Made to Move Tennis & Wellness for the past five years while going through extensive in-house trainings in the Natural Teaching Method.
My desire to help students achieve their tennis goals combined with my understanding of the Natural Teaching Method has enabled me to help students progress significantly while enjoying the game of tennis. I have always appreciated this unique teaching approach as a student and am extremely happy to have the opportunity to pass this gift on to future students.
I’ve always loved tennis! As a girl I kept a scrapbook of rising tennis stars and played on local courts as often as I could. After college, I worked as a middle school English teacher for many years, a job I loved. Later, I raised four children and taught preschool part time. During these busy years I was never far from a court—playing many times a week for fun and in leagues at MTM, and competitively all over Long Island in the USTA where I captained numerous teams.
For fifteen years I’ve been a client at Made to Move, and I started teaching tennis there in 2018. After extensive training in the natural teaching method, I’ve been impressed with how simply and effectively it develops coordination, balance, and efficient energy—the cornerstones of great tennis. I am passionate about sharing this with my students, so they can develop better skills and understanding, and experience the joy that hitting a tennis ball well can bring. Tennis is a sport for a lifetime; let’s get playing!
I grew up in Plainview, NY where I played baseball and football throughout my childhood and teens. Football introduced a physical fitness regime of strength and cardio conditioning that aided me in excelling in both sports. As a result I was nominated as a BFS All- American, which awards athletes who excel on the field and in the training room. I went on to be awarded a scholarship to play Division IAA football. My love of sports led me to the game of tennis and I have continued my love for health and fitness in my daily life. I have immensely enjoyed the competitive and strategic mind and body aspect of tennis through years of competitive play. The tennis training that I received in the MTM Natural Teaching Method was a perfect fit for my belief in movement, body awareness, and mindfulness to enhance our players tennis game and their lives. I have received my certification as a yoga teacher and have recently been certified in the DaVinci Body Board method. The balance of mind, body, and spirit influence my life and I believe deeply in the need for both movement and stillness with a holistic approach to well-being.
I received my national certification from the Academy of Applied Personal Training located at Hofstra University which specializes in injury management and prevention. I also participate in many in-house trainings while attending health conferences so that I can encourage and guide our team to the MtM mission and vision. I have a great passion for health and fitness coupled with a desire to help people. As a result, I enjoy being a health resource for people of all ages while motivating them to move towards a healthy lifestyle.
Throughout my career, in addition to being a Made to Move Life Fit Trainer, I have gained experienced in group training, tennis conditioning and teaching various fitness classes. I have been part of the Made to Move Tennis & Wellness team as a Life Fit Trainer since 2009 and became the Director of Fitness in 2015. My hope is to make a positive difference in peoples’ lives within our community.

I have been in the fitness industry for 21 years and received my national certification as a Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor from the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. I have also attended a variety of trainings throughout the years to diversify my fitness background. I have certifications in kickboxing, spinning (Mad Dogg Athletics), YogaFit, Power Pilates and kettlebell. In addition, I have been a Life Fit trainer and class instructor on the MtM Team since 2007 amassing many in-house continuing education certifications on the mind/body MtM method and its underlying science. As a people person, I am able to make an easy and natural connection with my clients. I enjoy leading an active lifestyle that reflects the Made to Move philosophy.

Amy Jeffrey:I graduated from the Academy of Applied Personal Training at Hofstra University in August 2014 where I received my national certification. In addition, my desire to become a MtM Nutritional Coach led me to Dr. Joel Fuhrman’s Nutritional Education Institute where I became a Nutritional Education Trainer in plant based nutrition. I am passionate about the holistic approach that Made to Move Tennis & Wellness offers its clients and I am excited to be part of the team. I have also been involved in sports and fitness my entire life. Currently, my interests are running, biking and occasional waterskiing.

I am nationally certified through Hofstra University, NY by the American Association for Personal Training Education. My focus is on building strength, flexibility and healing through safe exercise, muscle conditioning and various yoga techniques. I thoroughly enjoy helping adults overcome and surpass any limitations they feel are holding them back from a healthier life style. I am experienced in a variety of group fitness classes including Zumba and exercise for children. I do agility training for adults and children who play tennis and golf. I have a DaVinci BodyBoard Certification.
I received my certification in Plant-Based Whole Food Nutrition through eCornell University. As a nutritional coach at MTM, I have the opportunity to coach clients one-on-one while helping them attain their nutritional goals. I have also gained extensive knowledge in coaching and teaching classes for families with food allergies and for metabolism-based healthy weight-loss. My passion is sharing a strong belief in the mind/body connection - how our thoughts so powerfully affect us physically - in both fitness and nutrition
As a licensed Zumba instructor, I am able to share my passion for fun, dance and fitness at Made to Move Tennis & Wellness. My passion for dance has been lifelong as illustrated by my training in hip-hop, jazz, tap, lyrical ballet and ballroom dancing. I have been fortunate enough to perform in Off Broadway shows and other local dance studios. When I experienced my first Zumba class, I was completely committed to learning and teaching this wonderful fitness program to others. I am licensed in Zumba Gold, Zumba Toning, Zumba Kids and Zumba Kids Jr., enabling me to combine dance and fitness in a variety of ways.
I studied classical ballet for many years before my introduction to yoga in college. I have been a devout yoga practitioner for the past ten years. I received my 200-hour certification in Classical Yoga (Ashtanga) Teacher Training through The Hard and The Soft Yoga Institute, directed by Beryl Bender Birch in 2014. My education also includes a certificate in Vinyasa Flow through the Yoga Darshana Center and a Level I certification with Mayuri Gonzalez of Little Flower Yoga to teach yoga and mindfulness to children and youth, ages 3 to 18. I have completed the Mindful Yoga Therapy Training for Teachers, led by Suzanne Manafort, and my certification to teach veterans with PTSD and other victims of trauma. Wylie has studied with Rolf Gates, and is a member of the Long Island Yoga Association. My teaching goal is to create a practice combining Ashtanga Vinyasa or “flow” yoga with precise Iyengar-style yoga to nourish the mind, body and spirit. Keeping this goal in mind enables me to help to increase energy, and flexibility, relieve tension and stress, and ultimately culminate in total relaxation with my students.
I found my love for health and fitness as a young child, whether it was biking, kickball, playing tag, or swimming, I was always moving. As a result, becoming a personal trainer and being a class instructor was a natural transition in my life.

I began my fitness and wellness journey as a teenager learning about the importance of nutrition, exercise and the subject of reflexology. Later, I furthered my exploration by practicing Pilates and incorporating essential oils into my daily life. While experiencing a difficult personal situation I discovered meditation, and a dear friend of mine introduced me to yoga.
Starting first as a student, my love of Yoga blossomed, and I decided to obtain my teaching certification so that I could share the extraordinary value of yoga with others. In May 2017 I received my 200 hour YTT certification and then proceeded to obtain additional certifications in Restorative and Yin Yoga. I believe in Yoga’s many benefits, and continue to receive its many blessings which I love passing onto others.
I am a native Texan but have lived in Stony Brook, NY for 22 years and have a been a full-time, certified Life Coach for 20 years. Working with people of all ages and professions who desire to make changes in their lives, I seek to enhance the quality of their professional and personal lives.
In particular, I help my clients through the following issues: transition and life planning, career choice, leadership and developing a team, fitness and wellness coaching. I am a graduate of and certified by Coach University as well as the International Coach Federation and The Highlands Company (transforming careers since 1992).
I have a Master’s degree from the University of Texas. As co-owner of Made to Move Tennis & Wellness with my husband, Spencer, I have avenues which enable me to support others with their fitness and wellness goals. I am passionate about helping others seek holistic and practical tools for pro-active rather than re-active living through intuition, inspiration, and motivation.
Linda Folken, MS, RDN, CDN
Linda is a Registered Dietitian, Wellness and Life Coach. Her diverse and comprehensive background in nutrition, health, life and leadership coaching is what sets her apart from others. She draws on evidence-based scientific research to provide a person centered approach to meet each client’s individual needs in wellness and in life.
Linda has practiced in the health care field as a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN) for the past 35 years. She is a certified Health Coach through the American College of Exercise (ACE) and a graduate of the Coach U Core Essentials Program. Her mission to help her clients decrease stress and increase joy.
Amy Tietjen (M.S.Ed.)
Amy is a certified life coach and instructor of yoga and Pilates. For the past 15 years, Amy has served in various helping professions and wellness settings in Texas, Georgia, and New York. With her graduate degree in counseling, Amy has worked in private practice as well as in crisis intervention, as a teacher of psychology at the Stony Brook School and a ropes course coordinator at Baylor University. Amy is the founder of Metamorphosis, LLC and specializes in helping people determine and reach their goals physically, professionally, and personally.
